【story】
As a child, 17-year-old Mirai Takatsuki's life was saved thanks to a successful heart surgery funded by 500 million yen in charitable donations. Having grown up healthy, Mirai has lived a stifling adolescence, burdened by the expectations of those around him to live up to the 500 million yen, constantly exposed to the media. One day, after a certain incident, he declares his intention to commit suicide on social media, only to receive a message from an unknown account called "Kiyomaru" saying, "If you're going to die, pay back the 500 million yen first." Mirai runs away from home and embarks on a journey to repay his 500 million yen "debt" and gain his freedom. For the first time, this boy, who has always suppressed his true self, discovers something he truly wants to do: "pay back the 500 million yen and then die." He calculates that even working 8 hours a day, 365 days a year, at a part-time job paying 1000 yen an hour—a job even a high school student could do—it would take 171 years to save 500 million yen. Neither manga cafes nor business hotels will accommodate a 17-year-old like Mirai. As a minor, he can't do anything on his own… Will Mirai be able to earn 500 million yen? And when she gets her hands on 500 million yen, will she really choose to end her life?
