【story】
High school student Yukina Himuro (Tina Tamashiro) is a popular web novelist. To meet her readers' expectations, she decides to write a love story, but Yukina doesn't understand romance. Her cousin, Akira Shimotsuki (Kanta Sato), suggests a "simulated romance" to her. But that feels like deceiving the other person...
At that time, Yukina learns the hidden side of Kitami Shigure (Yuta Koseki), the most popular guy in school. He says that love is training to control others. Yukina thinks that if Shigure says that, she won't feel any pain in her heart, so she uses his secret as leverage to start a pseudo-romance mission!
"If you don't want all your secrets revealed, then fall in love with me!" Shigure reluctantly obeys Yukina. The two slowly take each other's hands in the classroom bathed in the setting sun.
"A sweet warmth radiated from his palm. As our fingers intertwined, our body temperatures slowly melted together." - Yukina's novel, which incorporates elements of her real-life romantic experiences, becomes popular, leading to a popularity contest (battle) between her and rival author Dolce = Kitami Hisame (Kaneko Daichi) for a film adaptation.
Yukina's missions escalate to increasingly extreme levels. Hugging in the infirmary, gentle bites on the neck, kisses on the lips... While being suspected by Mizuno Mami (Anna Yamada), who harbors feelings for Shigure, her novel becomes more and more popular thanks to the romance. Yukina should be on top of the world, but a comment from a reader leaves her deeply shocked: "Is true love more heartbreaking than that!?"
Still unable to understand the bittersweetness of love, Yukina goes to meet Shigure for a new mission. However, her attempt is unsuccessful, and Shigure tells her that he "doesn't love anyone"—leaving a deep wound in Yukina's heart after the rejection. Confused by this new, heart-wrenching feeling, Yukina finds herself in a state of shock.
As the day of the popularity poll approaches, Dolce's words, "Novels based on real-life experiences will eventually hit a dead end," sting Yukina. Nevertheless, she makes a decision: "I will resolve this love in my own way."
Shigure's past is revealed, a love quadrangle involving Akira and Mami unfolds, the outcome of the showdown with Dolce remains to be seen... and what is the final mission that Yukina assigns to Shigure?
