【story】
To someone I will never see again
If I could convey my feelings with just one word...
Misora Shimizu (Minami Hamabe), who has suffered repeated defeats in her job search and is unable to find her place in the world, possesses a power she cannot confide in anyone: the ability to hear the voices of the deceased.
Then, a life-changing encounter awaits Misora. Reiji Urushihara (Ren Meguro), a funeral planner who has discovered her secret, invites her to become a funeral planner, telling her that she should put her abilities to good use.
As if guided by fate, Misora finds herself working as an intern at the funeral company "Bando Kaikan," partnering with Urushihara. She is nearly broken by his strict guidance, which seems almost cruel and without a trace of weakness. However, at the same time, she notices Urushihara's sincere attitude towards the deceased and their families, and she begins to admire him when he gently says, "We will soon be saying goodbye," at the time of the funeral procession.
Eventually, the two encounter various family funerals: a husband who lost his pregnant wife, a couple who lost their young daughter, and a man who couldn't be there for his beloved who lived far away.
As they grapple with the profound grief each of them carries, Misora, along with Urushihara, continues to confront the question: "What kind of funeral would satisfy not only the surviving family members, but also the deceased?"
And, as if following in his footsteps, she decides to become a funeral planner herself. Urushihara, too, gradually comes to trust Misora, and the two of them aim to create the "best possible farewell" that connects the feelings of those left behind and those who are departing.
What is the true meaning behind the phrase, "We will soon be saying goodbye"?
And what is the final "miracle" that these two will deliver?
