[Synopsis]
Chisa Matsuoka (Alice Hirose), a promising lawyer belonging to a major law firm, is selected by Kenichi Mayama (Tatsugo Tsurumi), a senior partner at the firm, to handle the retrial of a false accusation in the "Ayakawa Incident," a kidnapping and murder of a young girl that occurred 21 years ago in Kagawa Prefecture. Around the same time as the "Ayakawa Incident," there were two other cases of young girl kidnappings that had not been prosecuted, and Chisa was one of the victims.
Chisa returns to her hometown of Kagawa for the first time in 10 years and, with the help of her colleague Kuma Hiroki (Kazama Shunsuke) at a local law firm, begins to re-examine the incident. It is highly likely that the same perpetrator committed the three crimes, and Chisa comes face to face with Hirayama Satoshi (Kitamura Yukiya), a suspect who may have attempted to kill her. Can she trust Hirayama, who claims his innocence? Chisa is torn between her professional ethics as a lawyer and her own past.
Yoshio Arimori (Eiji Okuda), a former police detective who was in charge of the "Ayakawa Incident" and now works at a victim support center, also believes Hirayama to be the real culprit while spending time with Toshie Ikemura (Naomi Zaizen), a family member of the victim, and develops further doubts about Hirayama, who claims to be innocent. He then confronts Chisa at the hearing for a retrial together with his former partner, Takuya Imai (Takuma Otoo).
What will be the outcome of the false accusation trial, and the truth behind the incident 21 years ago? Each person's strong feelings and sense of justice intersect, eventually driving the impulse of one man. Who will that feeling save? This human mystery will move you to the core with its final conclusion.
