[Synopsis]
Spring, 1991.
Takaki and Akari met at an elementary school in Tokyo, and as they gently reached out to each other to comfort their loneliness, they gradually began to connect with each other.
However, as soon as she graduates, Akari moves away.
Even after they separated, the two continued to correspond with each other.
Every time I heard the other person's words, I felt a real connection.
Winter of my first year of junior high school.
On a snowstormy night, the two meet again in Iwafune, Tochigi, and make a final promise under a single cherry tree standing in the snow.
"See you here again on March 26, 2009."
Time passed and it was 2008.
Takaki, who works in Tokyo, leads a secluded life without deep connections with others.
As I approach 30, I begin to realize that a part of me is still stranded in a distant time.
At times like that, what suddenly comes to mind are unfading scenery and a premonition of the promised day.
Akari, too, was quietly living her daily life with memories of those days in her mind.
Two people who have walked through 18 years at different speeds are heading towards a place of memories.
Beyond their destinies that never intersected, and the distance and time that separated them, the words from that time still float quietly in the air.
--I hope that someday, somewhere, it will reach that person.
A faint, quiet story of promise depicting an encounter with a loved one.
