For 50 years, these masterpieces have continued to shine, transcending genres and leaving their mark on the history of Japanese music.
Discussing the "true nature" of creation and life.
▪️A 50-year creative career that cannot be fully described by simply being a "lyricist"
Since his professional debut in 1976, he has produced numerous hit songs in the fields of idol pop and anime music. From the 1990s onward, he further developed his unique lyrical world through his work with rock artists such as Tomoyasu Hotei, hide, and Kyosuke Himuro. His career has expanded to include the publication of poetry collections, poetry readings, theater, translations of Broadway musicals, and the creation of original musicals. This book traces his journey from his childhood to the present day, through his own words, as he continues to search for new "places for words" without being confined to a single genre.
▪️ Encounters and collaborations with artists who shaped the era
From his childhood spent in Osaka, to his move to Tokyo, his immersion in manga and literature, his life-changing encounter with Jacks, his high school band "Namu," and his interactions with the members of Yoninbayashi—after starting his career as a lyricist, he met many artists including Yukihiro Takahashi, Tomoyasu Hotei, Kyosuke Himuro, hide, and Eikichi Yazawa. Why were those lyrics born? How do artists and lyricists search for words? He reveals not only the behind-the-scenes stories of hit songs, but also numerous little-known episodes, friendships, conflicts, setbacks, and his unwavering dedication to creation with legendary artists.
▪️ From idols, anime, rock, poetry, and musicals
From the 1990s onward, he began to seriously pursue his career as a poet, and also ventured into experimental poetry readings. Since the 2000s, he has expanded his activities into stage and musicals, writing lyrics and translating lyrics for works by the theater company Gekidan Shinkansen, as well as for "CHICAGO," "Kinky Boots," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and the Korean musical "Frankenstein." He has also worked on creating original musicals such as "SONG WRITERS." This book is both a memoir of a hitmaker and a treatise on creative work that continues to ask the questions, "What does it mean to write words?" and "Who is a lyricist?"
▪️Includes self-liner notes in which the artist interprets 25 of their representative songs.
This album includes self-liner notes by Yukinojo Mori himself, who discusses the background of the creation of 25 songs selected from his body of work (approximately 3,000 songs) and the intentions he put into the lyrics. Through works that have been sung across generations, such as "Zokkon Inochi (LOVE)," "Kanashimi yo Konnichiwa," "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA," "POISON," "Diamond Dust," "Katsushika Rhapsody," "Genkai Toppa x Survivor," and "Shinjitsu," the album delves into his songwriting techniques and the "true nature of words."
