【story】
Early 21st century. A virus that spread across the globe wiped out most of humanity, but the survivors overcame the infection and evolved both physically and mentally. In this new world, two groups of humans lived: the Nox, a new species vulnerable to sunlight and only able to live at night, and the Curio (antiques), an older species of humans who lived in poverty under the sun, controlled by the Nox.
Thanks to Nox technology, it was possible to convert from Curio to Nox, but medically, this conversion was limited to younger people. Then, one day, an incident occurred in a remote Curio village where a man brutally murdered a Nox resident. As a result, the village was subjected to an economic blockade by Nox and became even poorer...
Ten years later, Tetsuhiko Okudera (Ryunosuke Kamiki), a young man from the village, was living a gloomy life, feeling stuck in his village life. Meanwhile, his childhood friend, Yui Ikuta (Mugi Kadowaki), hated her mother for abandoning her and transforming into a Nox, as well as the Nox themselves, but still harbored a desire to do something for the village.
Then news arrives that the economic blockade imposed by Nox is being lifted after 10 years. The gate, which had been sealed for so long, opens, and a new Nox representative, Morishige Fujita (Furukawa Yuki), arrives as the gatekeeper. Tetsuhiko applies for the lottery to receive the Nox conversion surgery, which has now resumed. He also becomes close to Morishige, and while dreaming of a prosperous life, he feels that the future has opened up for him.
Meanwhile, Tetsuhiko's uncle, Katsuya, who had been on the run after committing a crime 10 years prior, returns to the village. Katsuya behaves as arrogantly as ever. Soon, an unsettling atmosphere hangs over the village, and events begin to unfold in an unexpected direction...
