Tadanobu Asano x Ryunosuke Kamiki The ultimate buddy duo is born!
Yugami Tekito (Tadanobu Asano) is a detective in the violent crimes division of Ukiyo Police Station. He's a haphazard, slovenly, and eccentric character who dislikes acting in groups. However, once he starts investigating a case, he's a man who relentlessly pursues the truth, unfazed by common sense or labels.
Partnering with Yugami is the ambitious and justice-driven young detective, Torao Hanyu (Ryunosuke Kamiki). For Hanyu, who wants to climb the corporate ladder quickly, Yugami, who doesn't hesitate to use illegal investigative methods, is a nuisance. Rika Sugano (Izumi Inamori), the head of the violent crimes division and Yugami's contemporary, is also having trouble dealing with the self-centered Yugami.
One day, a female college student, Mai Oshida (Yuka Ogura), is found dead, lying face up, under a pedestrian overpass. The estimated time of death is 1 AM. It is highly likely that Mai had fallen down the stairs by accident while on her way home after drinking. However, Yugami, who sensed something when he saw the body, drags Hanyu into his own investigation.
Yugami also obtains information from the hacker Hikawa Kazumi (Yamamoto Mizuki), also known as "Hizumi," and goes to meet Kurama Aiko (Ohgo Suzuka), a friend who was drinking with Mai on the day of the incident. Aiko then reveals that about a week earlier, Mai had caught a man who had groped her on a train, that she had received cash from the man and not reported him to the police, and that she had been harassed since that night.
Yugami and his team visit Ukiyodai Station, the site of the molestation incident, and speak with Sakaki Nozomi (Sugisaki Hana), the station employee who was on duty that day. Hanyu, who was Nozomi's classmate in middle school, is thrilled by the unexpected reunion. Eventually, with Sakaki's help, Yugami and Hanyu find the man suspected of molestation, Sawaya (Okada Yoshinori), but...
