[Introduction]
"Our lives are fleeting..."
This is a poignant yet heartwarming story about a philosophy lecturer and his student, both of whom have been given a terminal diagnosis, as they spend their days unsure of when their end may come.
In the spring of her second year of high school, Ichika Chidahara was given a prognosis of two years to live by her doctor. Having lived beyond that period, Ichika becomes a university student, living each day without knowing when her end may come.
That's where I found "hope for living." It was Professor Akifumi Maneki, a philosophy lecturer. Professor Maneki gently explains the "meaning of life" in his classes.
Ichika frequented Manaki's lecturer's office, and the two gradually grew closer. "As long as I have you, I feel like I can live forever."
However, one day Professor Maneki suddenly quit the university and disappeared from Ichika's life.
A grieving Ichika unexpectedly reunites with her teacher one day. As Ichika rejoices, Manaki says, "I'm going to die. I'm just a failure to die."
Coincidentally, these two find themselves in the same situation, having both received a terminal diagnosis... Can they share a pain that others cannot understand, and become each other's hope for life?
No matter how hard I try, will this love die...?
A story of fleeting love that makes you appreciate the simple things in everyday life more than ever before.
