Ukyo’s "former partner" makes his first appearance in the series!
A turbulent history lies behind it. Rumors are circulating within the Metropolitan Police Department that "a new Commissioner General has apparently been tentatively selected," with Kyōji Kanō (Keisuke Horibe), Director of the Security Bureau at the National Police Agency, considered the frontrunner. Amid this, a series of simultaneous burglaries occurs in an upscale residential neighborhood.The police begin their investigation, working on the assumption that the crimes were committed by a theft ring composed mainly of young people acting under the direction of a yakuza group.Meanwhile, Ukyo (Yutaka Mizutani), intrigued by the fact that—despite the meticulously planned crimes—only one house was the target of an attempted burglary, launches his own investigation alongside Kaoru (Yasufumi Terawaki). It turns out the owner of that house is Kenya Iwahashi (Ken Ishiguro), a man both Ukyo and Kaoru know.When they go to ask him about the situation, they discover that even the detective agency he runs had been burglarized. Faced with this puzzling situation, they press him for a lead, but Iwahashi simply plays dumb, insisting, "I have no idea."However, later that same day, Iwahashi himself contacted Ukyo. It turned out that Iwahashi was actually Ukyo’s "former partner"—someone who had left the Metropolitan Police Department after serving on the Special Assignment Unit for about half a year—and his decision to reach out again was deeply tied to a humiliating incident that had occurred 27 years earlier.Furthermore, it appears that a man named Tatsuhiro Baba (played by Dai Watanabe), acting on instructions from the Prime Minister’s Secretary, is conducting a top-secret investigation into Iwahashi…!? And just as Ukyo and Kaoru are about to resume their investigation, another incident occurs.
What is the former partner’s motive for revealing the humiliation from 27 years ago to the Special Assignments Unit?
The various motives of those involved intertwine amid a fierce power struggle…
The turmoil eventually leads to a conclusion that is far too unexpected!
