Wonjin from Balming Tiger, a leading force in Korean alternative music, We're releasing our first full album on vinyl!
Wonjin, from the alternative K-POP collective Balming Tiger, known for collaborations with RM (BTS), Haruomi Hosono, ATARASHII GAKKO!, Yaeji, and others, is making his solo debut!!
Wonjin, a multi-talented individual and the brains behind an alternative collective, has completed a powerful self-portrait, writing and composing all the songs himself without any help from others.
As a central member of Balming Tiger, a leading force in the Korean alternative scene, Wonjin has contributed vocals and production to numerous important tracks, including "Sexy Nukim (feat. RM of BTS)" (where he not only sang but also produced it) and co-composed and co-produced "Domodachi (feat. Little Simz)" from RM (BTS)'s solo album. Alongside his public activities, he has also dedicated himself to his own solo work, and has now released his first full-length album, "Mangsangrok (Delusional Record)." This album is a heartfelt work in which he wrote and composed all the songs himself, without any features.
At the heart of the sound is a fresh groove that elevates the intense romance of East Asian psychedelia from the 1960s and 70s and classic Korean pop music into cutting-edge modern sound production. The entire album is colored by groovy basslines, dreamy guitars, and catchy melodies, as exemplified by the lead single "Candy."
In his lyrics, he rediscovers the sound of his native language (Korean) through his world tour, and records his everyday anxieties, self-pity, and the fantasies swirling in his mind like a diary. He identifies with the image of a "man who tries to act cool but ends up falling apart," inspired by an anime character, and constructs a unique worldview infused with black humor where patheticness and romanticism intertwine.
