BABYMETAL ~And into legend...~
The June 2021 issue of Young Guitar features the legendary LIVE AT BUDOKAN: The miraculous performances that graced the "holy ground." After opening as the judo arena for the Tokyo Olympics, Nippon Budokan has since become known as a "rock mecca" for MUSICIANS from Japan and abroad, starting with The Beatles' performance there. Why do people want to see the Budokan? We'll explore its appeal from multiple angles.
The highlight of the program will be the latest interviews with guitarists who have actually performed at the Budokan, sharing their thoughts on the venue. Featuring Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, who made the name "BUDOKAN" known around the world; Kyoji Yamamoto, who has performed on a variety of stages, from opening for Aerosmith and KISS to performing solo at VOW WOW; Paul Gilbert, who looks back on the performances that deepened his connection with Japan through his many MR. BIG shows; and DAITA, who holds the record for the largest audience at a SIAM SHADE show.
Other highlights include a special interview with veteran staff from the long-established promoter Udo Music Agency, who talk about what goes on behind the scenes at the big stage, and a photo gallery that looks back on 10 of the most memorable live shows in rock history, plus more, along with eyewitness reports.
In addition, we will be delivering a comprehensive summary of BABYMETAL, who recently completed their "10 concerts at Nippon Budokan" series, in a special feature of over 30 pages. It is also packed with explanations of the guitar god's equipment.
In connection with the Nippon Budokan special, the score has selected three songs: Cheap Trick's "Surrender," Michael Schenker Group's "Armed And Ready," and BABYMETAL's "Headbanger!!"
Also included is a new interview with Steve Vai, who overcame an arm injury to complete his new song "Knappsack," as well as a special feature demonstrating his playing techniques via web video.
