Michiko Shibata (Kyoko Fukada) is 30 years old. She is unemployed after the company she worked for went bankrupt six months ago. She also finds out that the man she thought was her boyfriend is just making her spend money, and her savings are all gone.
One day, Michiko, who is at rock bottom, happens to meet her sadistic boss from her previous company, Kurosawa (DEAN FUJIOKA). She is frightened as she remembers the days when he constantly abused her, but her emotions are mixed together and she suddenly shouts, "I want to eat meat!" Unable to bear the sight any longer, Kurosawa takes Michiko by the hand and they head to "Himawari," a coffee shop that is in the process of opening. Kurosawa has started a new life as the owner of this shop.
Kurosawa feels sorry for Michiko's terrible situation and announces that he will hire her as a part-time worker. Michiko reluctantly gains a source of income and a meal.
Haruko (Mimura), who runs a flower shop, comes to Himawari with a flower arrangement. For some reason, Kurosawa is knowledgeable about flowers. I wonder if there is anything Kurosawa doesn't like. On her first day of work, Michiko passes by a businessman named Mogami (Shohei Miura) while handing out flyers. Mogami is a handsome and refreshing young man who goes out of his way to pick up the flyers that Michiko had dropped. Michiko says in her heart that he has nothing to do with her.
A few days later, Kurosawa's girlfriend Akira (Maho Nonami) comes to Himawari. Akira is strongly opposed to Kurosawa becoming a coffee shop owner. She tells him that she will break up if things continue like this and leaves Himawari. Later, Michiko finds Akira at a nearby park and gets him to join her in a drinking contest, and they hit it off.
